Countdown

Apologies for the lack of blog posts recently but with the countdown to the wedding (19 days!!) I have been extremly busy with tying up loose ends and trying to tick everything of the to do list.

I think I can now safely say that we are both ready (I have been informed there are no cold tootsies as of yet) with only two things left to sort before the big day!

1. Purchasing a waterproof mascara
2. Fixing something to my table numbers so they dont fall over (3D nightmare)

I am repeatedly being asked at the moment if I am nervous yet? the answer is no. I am so excited to be married but no nerves have kicked in, which is surprising me to be honest.

I feel so organised and stress free at the moment, so I cannot complain. I am super kitted out with coldsore creams, tablets off the GP and a zapper from Boots to avoid any stress induced nastyness on my lips. Fingers crossed I can avoid another before the big day!

Roll on the 12th March 2016, followed by which hopes to be a spectacular honeymoon in New York.

Wedding Nightmares

Although not scary all of the time,  I am having some pretty strange dreams leading up to the wedding.

The most recent being something quite comical if I do say so myself.

It started off with me, my bridesmaids and my mum getting ready for the day and realising I hadn’t got my dress, we hadn’t even picked it up from the bridal shop.

Then the flowers arrived. That’s great if it wasn’t for me requesting a "chicken" theme to them. Why? Not quite sure but either way the florist misunderstood what I meant by cute chicks sitting in the bouquets and instead each bridesmaid had to walk down the aisle carrying a takeaway tray of fried chicken.
The logical side is that each bridesmaid had a different style. Popcorn chicken, chicken strips..You get the gist. For me, well I got a whole cooked chicken!! Lucky me.

Then after we had said our vows my husband turned round to me and whispered how he knew what underwear I was wearing as it had been on show for the whole ceremony.

And last of all we headed for the evening entertainment. A theme park which you had to enter via water slides. My husband went down his slide and I had to go down a different one. Well I didn’t fit so I spent the rest of the evening sleeping on the floor with a towel over me and missing my night of the wedding.

8 weeks and counting......

Happy New Year

Welcome 2016! I have been waiting for you to appear.

This year could well end up being the best one as of yet!
With my hen do on the way and then our wedding in ten weeks, I am so excited. This is being followed by our honeymoon to New York which is something I have dreamt of for so long! and I know Alex is just as excited.

I will also be a bridesmaid for my soon to be Sister in law in August with a week in Devon to accompany this. They are quite an adventourous couple, so I am intreagued to see what they have planned.

I am feeling quite content with everything else. I have been in my job for a year as of this week and in my house for two come May. My two kitties are healthy and everything else can just fall into place as it goes along.

What else will 2016 be bringing? well we can only sit and wait but hopefully, we may end up decorating the spare room ;)

Happy New Year everybody

Christmas Q&A

What’s the best Christmas present you’ve received?

Do you leave anything out for Santa? At the age of 25 and it only being me and Alex at home, no we don’t. But as a kid we always left something out – and every year it was gone on Christmas morning…

Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve, first thing on Christmas day or after dinner?

Never ever do we open them on Christmas Eve, EVER! Growing up my parents liked to be cruel and each year spice it up a little. One year they made up put on VH1 and if we could guess the year correctly then we could open a pressie.. You can imagine how long this took. Another year we had to wait until 8pm, because you know jokes and all…
Now as an adult, I open them on Christmas Day when I am ready!!

What do you usually eat for Christmas and with who?

The traditional (for us anyway) Turkey and all the trimmings with a selection of puds afterwards. Up until this year it’s always been with my family on Christmas day and his on boxing day. This year it’s just us two and I am very excited!

What are top 3 things on your Christmas list this year?

A camera (unlikely)
New perfume along the lines of Ghost or Chanel
A recipe scrap book for all the recipes Alex and I like

Do you have any of your own Christmas traditions?

Growing up we always had a huge feast on Christmas morning which left us full to the brim until dinner which we always eat late. The feast consisted of a full English, pastries, muffins, bucks fizz and orange juice.

What is your favourite Christmas film?

What isn’t a great Christmas film. The Grinch? Love actually? All of them!

What is your best childhood Christmas memory?

I have a memory of waking up and seeing Santa’s footprints across the living room floor and hoof prints on the sofa.. Now logically it makes no sense.

Weekly round up

What a week it has been. I must admit I have not being the happiest bunny this week and I am not sure why to be honest. You would think with Christmas only round the corner, I would be really in the spirit and looking forward to all the Christmassy goodness...well I am not.

My fiance Alex has been away Monday - Friday and it seems this will continue up until Christmas and although this is something I am used to and have experienced ever since the beginning of our relationship, for some reason this time it has been alot harder and I have really missed him.

I have also had a stomach bug it seems all week, which started off nicely after our first work Christmas meal and therefore I have been off food all week and really could pass on anything passing my mouth if it wasnt for the fact I need food to survive. Lets hope this clears up quickly as I have a Christmas fuddle, work do and then Christmas festiveness coming out of my ears following that. I mean I really cant believe I have been passing on all the goodies offered to me so far but everything makes my stomach hurt :(

On top of all of this I am really struggling to get my bum into gear when it comes to Christmas pressies and even cards, I have struggled to find anything that ticks my boxes. This really isnt normally the case for me and I tend to be very organised. FAIL.

Now that Alex has been home for the weekend I have done a tiny bit of shopping and just written out my cards and we have ordered our food for the festive season including Hestons sticky toffee apple pudding for Christmas day because well, we really thought we would shake things up with it only being us two this year.

Anybody else been stuck in a bit of a rut this year?

Any suggestions on how to get out of it?

Winter loveliness

Unlike a lot of people I actually love the cold and as long as I am layered up and I dont get wet feet I am happy.

I thought I would do a list of the loveliness for this time of year - and hey it may just put you in that comfy zone ready for Christmas.

Hot chocolates, tea, whatever you fancy, pop on the kettle, grap a biscuit and snuggle on down!

Pop on the outfit you feel the snazziest in, throw on your party hat and celebrate!

Glittery nails that are a pain in the bum to remove, but yet we still do them ..daily. Glitter them up!!

Those unnecessary treats that we dont need but still purchase, such as gingerbread houses - GO PURCHASE!

And finally get the decorations down from the loft and put them everywhere!!!!!

Dot and Dave

Say hello to Dot and Dave my two adorable if slightly dog like kitties!

Both female (yes Dave is a female) and they are 19 months old. Both identical, pure black cats bar white little markings under their chins.

How did I end up with them? Well I found a page on facebook for our area (Nottingham) for cats that needed homes and we had always been in rented accomodation which didnt allow pets..but we had just purchased a house and I thought hey why not ring my partner and ask him tell him that we were getting a cat. It just so happened I visited and found two sisters and couldnt decide between them.

They are the sweetest little things that love wotsits, belly rubs and miaow for a cuddle. Dot is fond of drinking out of the bathroom tap and sleeping in the sink and Dave is a fan of giving an evil stare and catching birds...and leaving them for us every single day!

Unfortunately they havent got the best immune system and frequently have to visit the vets, so thank goodness for pet insurance.

I wouldnt change them for the world even if they do paw at the door to ask to come in.

Bridal - Hair accessories

One of the things I am really struggling with, more than the dress, more than the venue, more than the ring I will wear for the rest of my life is what on earth do I do with my hair.

The colour and length and even the accessories is something constantly going round in my head and with 105 days until the big day (yes I have an app) it is driving me up the wall not having it finalised.
I know it sounds pathetic and I am aware there are bigger concerns in the world but this is something I want to get right, although I know Alex thinks I am beautiful no matter what, it matters to me.

So let’s begin… My mum really and I mean really wants me to wear a tiara or headband and I always thought I wouldn’t want to. Until I tried one on and then I wanted to be a full on princess. But my main concern is it clashing with my dress. I have a lot of blue throughout the wedding and a lot of fine details on everything so it has been really hard to find something.

My first find is this beauty. It ties in with the theme of forget me not like flowers, is elegant and would make me feel like a princess... BUT I have a lot of detail on my dress and I dont want to over do it.

This was found on Etsy from a shop called Jasfavor and is £34.04

I then found this lush hair grip which is a little more subtle and would bring attention to my hair at the back and has the lush "cinderella blue" that runs throughout our theme.

Again this was also found on Etsy from a shop called GlamorousBijoux and is £43.57

Last of all is this option that I have been pondering and these would fit the bill perfectly. If I could decide.. Simple but stunning and again ties in with the theme.

From the Etsy shop Retrobridal and they are a bargain of £10.21

So guys what are your thoughts? Which one should I go for?

First book review

'Oh Dear Silvia' by Dawn French

This is a hand me down by the mother (another book obsessed person in my life) who suggested I read this as she thoroughly enjoyed it and I had heard quite a few good things about it anyway.

Without spoiling it for others, it is a story about a woman who is in a coma and is frequently visited by those in her current life and from her past. Unfortunately I did not get past page 109 due to really struggling to get into it. Now I am not one to give up a on a book normally and I can pretty much read anything, but for some reason this book is not for me and those “funny” parts mentioned to be quite frequent in the book… well I haven’t discovered them so far.

I am quite a fast reader and I kept persevering to trudge through it but was not getting anywhere!
I am not saying I will not reattempt this in the future but for now I have 49 other books to start reading before the collection grows further at Christmas.

What are your views on this book?

Three - Christmas Wish List

Every year my partner and I have a tradition where we write a gift list each to set us on our merry way on the wonders of Christmas shopping. Not because we struggle to buy for each other, instead we like to get a few things that we may have wanted for quite some time as well as surprises.

This time round with having my blog again I thought it would be nice to read a wish list, for those out there that like that kind of thing!

So lets get cracking...........

Top of my list is this beauty that will be released I believe, on the 22nd November 2015. The new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette

I love the fact that 12 out of the 15 colours are brand new to Urban Decay and even the brighter ones I think I could play around with to get a look perfect for the festive season.

Second on my wish list would be the Chanel : CHANCE EAU TENDRE fragrance.

I feel that over the last few years my choice of fragrances has changed and i go towards a stronger scent as I feel that they tend to last for a longer period. Now I am not going to try and pretend I am an expert in scents therefore I will just say it smells of angels.

A wish list wouldn't be a wish list for me without a good old book! This newbie is high on my list of needing to be on my shelf.

One of my favourite authors Cecelia Ahern has released another book ' The Marble Collector' that I know will be just as fabulous as the others. Santa please?

And finally, the Radley scribble dog umbrella - Self explanatory really, have you not seen the weather?

I hope this filled your head with wonderfulness of what may be under your tree at Christmas :)

Two

So here I am writing whilst in the car on the way to Norfolk for my birthday weekend away treat from the parents.

Although the weather is looking to be pretty shocking, I am looking forward to chips on the beach, yummy food and great company! If we get there as traffic is looking pretty shocking also.

I have been off since Wednesday celebrating in style - which actually consists of Disney movies, a trip to IKEA and eating way too much (undoes button on jeans).

Does anybody else like to just relax at home on days off without anything snazzy in place? Just me?

One

Ok, here it goes. *waves* Hi my name is Hannah, and for a very long time I have been popping in and out of the blogging world.

Once upon a time I did have a blog but I was very young and living very differently back then and it kind of just, well.. fizzled out.

I’m back with a mortgage, full time job, education behind me alongside being engaged and a mother to two beautiful kitty sisters. Will I be able to perform a miracle and blog every day?? No. But I will blog on anything I find interest in and hopefully you will come along for the ride.
